Unprecedented Escalation… Mostafa Kamel Faces the Public Prosecution

The Egyptian Musicians’ Syndicate is witnessing a sharp escalation of internal disputes, as the arguments have now moved into the judicial arena. In a notable development, musician Atef Imam, former Dean of the Music Institute and head of the Syndicate’s Services Committee, filed an official complaint against the Syndicate’s head, artist Mostafa Kamel, accusing him and a council member of obstructing legal procedures and preventing Imam from exercising his right to appeal a decision issued by the Disciplinary Board.
Official Complaint Accuses the Syndicate of Obstruction
Tensions rose further after Atef Imam accused the council of negligence, claiming he was barred from performing his duties, which he obtained through a court ruling, stressing that this action undermines the law and restricts his legal rights.
Legal Response
Atef Imam’s lawyer, Fahd Marzouk, submitted an official complaint, No. 3514 of 2025 Administrative Abdeen, accusing Mostafa Kamel of withholding the Disciplinary Board’s decision, thereby preventing his client from appealing—a clear denial of a fundamental legal right.
In response, Dr. Ahmed Abu Al-Majd, Secretary-General of the Musicians’ Syndicate, confirmed that the syndicate acted immediately, referring the matter to its Legal Affairs Department to review the situation and take the appropriate measures.
