Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza Opens with Widespread Global Attendance

The world’s attention turns today to Giza Governorate, specifically at 7:00 PM Cairo time, for the most prominent cultural event: the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, receiving unprecedented media coverage and considered one of the most important cultural and artistic landmarks of the 21st century.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi described the event as “combining the genius of ancient Egypt with the creativity of contemporary Egypt,” adding on his official social media accounts: “The event adds a new landmark to the world of culture and arts, attracting all those interested in civilization and knowledge, and it is a source of pride for everyone who believes in the unity of humanity and the values of peace, love, and cooperation among peoples.”
Widespread Global Participation
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official presidential spokesperson, confirmed that the ceremony will witness the participation of 79 official delegations, including 39 headed by kings, princes, presidents, and heads of government, reflecting Egypt’s global status and its leading role in cultural and humanitarian affairs. He clarified that the guest list includes leaders from Belgium, Spain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Japan, and Portugal, alongside heads of government from Greece, Hungary, Kuwait, and Lebanon.
Meanwhile, the General Information Authority announced that it has granted coverage permits to more than 450 international correspondents representing around 180 global media outlets to broadcast the inauguration moment by moment worldwide. The authority added that large international media delegations arrived specifically for the event, including 40 European institutions, 24 American outlets, 30 Asian networks, 48 Arab channels, in addition to 70 major international TV networks and 35 international news agencies with photography teams, highlighting the global significance of this unique cultural project.
The opening ceremony will last an hour and a half, followed by a tour for VIP guests and heads of state through the museum’s halls. The public will be allowed to visit the museum starting November 4, 2025, after the conclusion of official events.
In a commemorative step, the General Treasury and Mint announced the issuance of a collection of gold and silver commemorative coins, luxuriously designed with the museum’s emblem and a statue of King Ramses II, creating artistic pieces that combine historical value with aesthetic beauty, immortalizing this major cultural achievement for generations to come.
