Hanan Motawe calls for banning the use of people’s images without prior consent Hanan Motawe stresses the danger of the absence of a clear legal framework regulating artificial intelligence

Egyptian actress Hanan Motawe has called for the introduction of a law regulating the use of artificial intelligence technology, to limit chaos, protect intellectual property rights, and prevent the misuse of people’s images without prior consent. She stressed that such practices pose a serious threat, saying: “One of the most basic rights is to inform anyone appearing in a video and obtain their approval first.”

Warning Against Misuse of Technology During a phone interview with TV host Lamees El Hadidi on the program “Al-Soura” broadcast on Al-Nahar TV, Motawe emphasized the dangers of the absence of a clear legal framework governing AI, saying: “We must protect ourselves from the misuse of technology. I could wake up one day to find myself in a movie that goes against my beliefs or principles, or in scenes I would never perform.”

Hanan Motawe’s Anger Over AI Video of Her Late Father The actress also expressed her deep frustration after a video created using AI went viral, featuring her late father, actor Karam Motawe, without her permission. She said: “The video was painful… I don’t like recalling images of death or grief, and when I see such things, my heart tightens and hurts.”

She added that the video’s creator had apologized, and she appreciated his good intentions and manners. However, she stressed the importance of establishing clear legal boundaries to prevent similar violations in the future.
