"‘Bring the mangoes’… New details in Hala Sedki’s case with her former maid"

Egyptian actress Hala Sedki has shared updates on her legal dispute with her former maid, who accuses her of extortion, threats, and defamation on social media. This comes after the Omrania Misdemeanor Court postponed the verdict in the case to the session on September 17.
For the first time, Hala spoke indirectly about the circumstances of the case through a lengthy post on her official Instagram account, using a sarcastic tone and making implicit accusations against other parties. She indicated that the incident was an attempt to pressure her into allowing the maid to return to work—a demand she completely rejected.
Hala wrote: “Bring the mangoes because the watermelon is finished, let’s have some fun… It’s amazing how coincidences work. The maid’s lawyer is the same as the lawyer of the lady and the driver Salah, who tried to ‘buy’ my farm manager… the same person! Strange and amazing.”
She added: “Fools thought everyone is cheap and can be bought, not realizing that some people have conscience and integrity even if they are in need.”
“Respect to all honorable people”
Hala also praised what she called “the honorable lady,” who refused a bribe despite her needs, saying: “The person in this case deserves all respect and appreciation because she refused a bribe, even though others in better circumstances accepted. Respect to every honorable person who fears God.”
Attempts at pressure and threats
Hala explained that her former maid contacted several of her close associates in an attempt to pressure her into allowing her to return to work, threatening to publish offensive videos on social media if her demand was not met.
On his part, Hala Sedki’s lawyer, Sherif Hafez, filed an official complaint with the First Public Prosecutor of South Giza, accusing the maid of public insults and defamation.
The lawyer attached digital evidence, including a flash drive containing documented videos, which—according to the complaint—support the actress’s claims. He also requested the testimony of several witnesses cited by his client.
