"Motazza Abdel Sabour reveals her ordeal: “Threatened with eviction

The Egyptian artist and writer Motazza Abdel Sabour, daughter of the late poet Salah Abdel Sabour, revealed a difficult humanitarian crisis she is facing after being informed that she would be forced to leave her home — which was also her father’s house — within seven years.
Through her official Facebook page, Motazza wrote: “A few days ago, when I was in a state I had never seen myself in, I was told by one of the heirs of the building that I would be evicted from my home, Salah Abdel Sabour’s house, in seven years… meaning that my father’s library, my life, and his life will all be thrown into the street.”
A life turned into a “horror film”
She described her suffering by saying that her life has turned into something like a “horror film”, where she finds herself threatened with losing her home, her father’s memories, and his library that contains a rich literary and intellectual legacy.
Despite the harsh circumstances, Motazza continued her commitment to cultural and artistic work, refusing to cancel the workshop she was scheduled to present at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. She stressed that she always draws inspiration from the advice she gives her students: “If you can’t walk, crawl… but keep moving forward.” She added that for her, “the honor of the word” is stronger than any contract, a principle she was raised on.
She also explained that many of her followers were already aware of the ordeal she is going through, pointing out that she is suffering from a true psychological shock because of the situation.
