Syrian artist Maxim Khalil did not overlook the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the escalating threat of famine. Through his Instagram account, he shared a heartfelt message via the “Story” feature, recalling a prominent global humanitarian initiative from the 1980s.

Khalil highlighted the 1985 international campaign when more than 40 artists came together to release the song “We Are The World” to raise funds to combat famine in Africa, emphasizing that the initiative succeeded in raising awareness and collecting financial support despite the absence of social media at the time.

“We must do something”

He added, “This is not just news… it is a reality showing that in 2025, Gaza is suffering from famine,” urging everyone to take action and not succumb to the idea of impossibility, stressing that humanity is capable of making real change.

In his message, he wrote: “We must do something… nothing is impossible… influencers can do a lot… and humanity can do even more,” concluding his solidarity with Gaza using the hashtag: #FamineInGaza.
