Father Boutros Daniel, head of the Catholic Center for Cinema, revealed the late actor Lotfi Labib’s final wishes and details about his last hours, as well as his posthumous tribute at the Catholic Center.

Father Daniel mentioned that before his passing, Lotfi Labib had requested the completion of two scripts he was working on—a film and a series—stressing that the actor was determined to return to his office in Al-Rehab to finish them.

Regarding the tribute, Father Boutros announced that it would not be limited to an official honor; a special memorial ceremony will be held, and his name will be added to the center’s honor roll in recognition of his distinguished artistic contributions. He praised Labib’s role in the film "Wesh Fi Wesh," for which he received an award from the judging panel, considering it an encouragement for his artistic journey.

A Kind and Supportive Soul

Father Daniel described the late actor as a kind-hearted person who loved supporting young artists. Despite suffering from a stroke that affected his speech and movement, Labib continued to encourage and support others, often participating in theatrical works to uplift young talents psychologically and morally.

Regarding his battle with throat cancer, Father Boutros confirmed that Lotfi Labib was diagnosed with a tumor in his larynx. Doctors had proposed a surgical procedure, but his family declined it to preserve his mental well-being.

Lotfi Labib passed away on Tuesday at the age of 78, after a long illness. He had previously suffered a stroke that caused partial paralysis and speech difficulties. Recently, he experienced a severe health setback that led to his admission to the intensive care unit in a Cairo hospital. He was discharged for a while but later readmitted, according to Ashraf Zaki, head of the Actors’ Syndicate, who asked fans to pray for his recovery, confirming that his condition was very critical.
