The release of "El Gawhary" was scheduled for Wednesday. The film presents a comedic take on the struggles of married life.

Fans of Egyptian actress Mona Zaki were surprised by the sudden postponement of her new film "El Gawhary", in which she stars alongside Mohamed Henedy, marking their first collaboration in nearly 25 years.

The film was scheduled to hit theaters on Wednesday, but producer Walid Sabri abruptly announced the delay without revealing a new release date.

A Reunion That Brings Back Memories

"El Gawhary" reunites Mona Zaki and Mohamed Henedy nearly a quarter-century after their huge success in the 2000 classic "Se’idi in the American University".

The film also stars Lebleba, Ahmed Salah El-Saadani, Tara Emad, Bassem Samra, Arefa Abdel Rasoul, and others. It was written by Omar Taher and directed by Islam Khairy. The story unfolds in a comedic framework focusing on marital issues.

A New Collaboration with Kamla Abu Zekry

Meanwhile, producer Shahinaz El Akkad announced a new cinematic collaboration between Mona Zaki and director Kamla Abu Zekry — their second after nearly 19 years since "An El Eshq Wal Hawa" in 2006.

El Akkad confirmed that preparations and script readings are currently underway for a new film tentatively titled "Rezz El Habl", written by George Azmy. Filming is expected to begin as soon as locations are finalized, with a release scheduled for later this year.

This marks the third collaboration between Mona Zaki and producer Shahinaz El Akkad, following "Rehlat 404" and "A’az El Weld", the latter of which saw Mona Zaki deliver a memorable performance. She also recently appeared in the series "Nemret Etnein".

A Return to Comedy for Mona Zaki

The upcoming film signals Mona Zaki’s return to comedy, a genre she excelled in with past works like:

  • "Se’idi in the American University"
  • "Taymour and Shafika"
  • "Abu Ali"
  • "Men 30 Sana"
  • "El Ankaboot"

"Rezz El Habl" is expected to be a lighthearted social comedy that reflects everyday life experiences with humor and wit.
