"Fadel Fulfilled His Promise"… A Jordanian Poet’s Dream Comes True Two Decades Later with "Kifak ‘A Firaqi"

With heartfelt and nostalgic words, Jordanian poet Samar Hneidi recalled a pivotal moment in her life nearly twenty years ago—when a chance encounter brought her together with Lebanese singer Fadel Chaker in a meeting that left a deep mark on the heart of a young girl who carried nothing but a notebook of poems and big dreams.
On her Instagram account, Hneidi posted an old photo of her with Fadel Chaker and wrote: "Twenty years ago, I was a 19-year-old girl, carrying a notebook of lyrics and a heart full of dreams. A coincidence brought me to Fadel Chaker, and I showed him some of my writings. The meeting wasn’t long, but it filled me with great hope. He called me the next day and asked me to work on lyrics for him. He promised me—casually—that one day he would sing something I wrote."
She added, with clear emotion: "He may have forgotten, but I never did. I was a 19-year-old girl, and that single word kept me going. Today, 20 years later, he sang my lyrics—without even realizing he had fulfilled a promise to a young girl whose whole life is writing."
Hneidi described the experience in her own words: "Our story? It’s not a success story... it’s a story of faith, waiting, and a beautiful promise that wasn’t forgotten."
The poet's words did not go unnoticed—Fadel Chaker himself responded with a message full of appreciation and gratitude on his official account: "After twenty years, God brought us back together and we made something beautiful. I wish you all the best and thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Lebanese music arranger Hossam Saabi also responded to Hneidi’s post, saying: "You deserve all the best, Samar."
“Keefak ‘A Firaqi”: A Remarkable Song with a Jordanian Signature
This emotional remembrance coincided with the release of "Keefak ‘A Firaqi"—a duet that brought together Fadel Chaker and his son Mohammad Chaker, released on July 7, 2025. The lyrics were penned by Samar Hneidi, with music composed by Wael El-Sharqawi, and arranged by Hossam Saabi.
The song, which carries a deeply sentimental tone, received significant attention upon its release. Audiences praised the heartfelt performance of father and son, celebrated Fadel’s return to emotional ballads, and expressed admiration for Mohammad Chaker’s touching debut alongside his father.
