Tamer Hosny Reacts to Internet Outage in Egypt Tamer Hosny: "We must be prepared for emergencies like this."

In the wake of a widespread telecommunications and internet outage in Egypt on Monday, Egyptian singer and actor Tamer Hosny responded to the incident, expressing concern over its impact on citizens’ daily lives—particularly following the major fire that broke out at the Ramses Central building in downtown Cairo, which caused disruptions in essential services.

The star, known as the “Generation’s Idol,” posted on his official account on X (formerly Twitter) a clip from his latest film Restart, which explores a similar scenario of total internet outage and its deep effect on society.

Restart is becoming reality”

He wrote:Restart is happening… no internet, no phone calls, no banks. I was right when I said in the film that as nations and people, we need to be prepared for emergencies like this.”

Tamer highlighted the dangers of complete dependence on the internet in all aspects of life, urging everyone to think of alternative solutions to ensure the continuity of vital services—especially for patients in hospitals and vulnerable groups.

A message of solidarity

He concluded his post with a message of support: “May God protect Ramses Central, its employees and workers, and the residents of the surrounding area.”

It’s worth noting that the fire resulted in a partial outage of communication and internet services across several areas in Egypt. Some banking operations were also affected, sparking widespread concern among the public.
