Edward: "The tumor was discovered by chance" Edward: "I used to cry alone every day"

Egyptian actor Edward shocked his audience by revealing that he had gone through a serious health ordeal: a cancerous tumor in his kidney that required surgical removal of the entire organ. He has since announced a full recovery.

Edward explained that the tumor was discovered by chance during routine medical tests. What initially appeared to be a cyst on the kidney was later revealed through more precise analysis to be a malignant tumor, only treatable through surgery. “That word is terrifying,” he said. “I can’t describe how I felt. I used to cry alone every day and hid it from my kids. I only told my wife,” he added, expressing the shock he felt upon receiving the diagnosis.

He spoke candidly about how the experience affected him emotionally, stating that he chose to stay strong for his family and preferred to remain silent until the crisis had passed.

Alongside his health revelation, Edward also reflected on his artistic journey. He noted that music was his first passion before entering the world of acting. He studied music and initially worked in the tourism industry with his father. “I’ve always left everything to God. I just go with the flow,” he said.

He recalled his first acting role in the film Baheb El Sima, alongside Mahmoud Hemida. The movie remained unreleased for four years despite his fame at the time as a singer—Edward had already spent more than 14 years in music before acting.

He also spoke about his first theater experience in Death of a Salesman, which he performed during his student years with then-unknown fellow actors Khaled Saleh and Khaled El Sawy.

Edward revisited key moments in his music career, highlighting the song Linda Linda as a major turning point. He also mentioned Laylo as a unique moment thanks to the Spanish lyrics it included. “I used to be the most famous Western-style singer at the time,” he said, before adding humorously, “I don’t know where all the people who used to love that kind of music went!”

His cancer journey sparked widespread sympathy and support, especially after he reassured his fans of his recovery. He emphasized the importance of hope and inner strength in facing health crises.
