Grief swept through Egypt’s artistic and popular circles on Wednesday morning, following the sudden announcement of young singer Ahmed Amer’s death at the age of 42 due to an unexpected health crisis that claimed his life within a few short hours. His passing shocked fans and colleagues alike, particularly as he had shown no previous signs of illness and had been actively working.

The late singer, who left behind three young children, had just concluded a concert in Mansoura, in Egypt’s Dakahlia governorate, when he began experiencing intense pain during his journey back to Cairo.

His manager, Ibrahim El-Prince, shared details of Ahmed’s final hours, revealing that the driver accompanying him had called in the early morning hours to report a sudden deterioration in the singer’s condition. They immediately headed to the hospital.

Despite receiving IV fluids at the hospital, the medical team remained silent about his condition, heightening the concern of those with him. Eventually, a doctor emerged to deliver the devastating news: Ahmed Amer had passed away.

In disbelief, the singer’s body was transferred to his hometown in Mahalla for a final examination at a cardiac center, where doctors confirmed that he had arrived deceased.

A final wish honored

Adding to the heartbreak, and now becoming a central talking point among his fans, is the fact that Ahmed Amer had reportedly made a clear request during his life: that all his songs be deleted and not circulated in the event of his death. His manager confirmed this, and several of his artist friends honored the wish by removing their collaborations with him. Additionally, none of the songs he recently recorded will be released, in accordance with his final request.

El-Prince also firmly denied rumors that Amer died from a heart attack, stating that he had only complained of intense stomach pain. He also refuted claims that the body was autopsied or showed any suspicious marks, stressing that the death appeared to be natural.

Ahmed Amer’s sudden and painful departure left a deep impact on all who knew him — both in the music industry and among his audience — who saw in him a rising talent with a promising future that was tragically cut short.
