Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab is facing what her legal team describes as a deliberate and coordinated campaign aimed at tarnishing her public image and undermining her artistic accomplishments, according to her lawyer Yasser Kantoush.

In an official statement, Kantoush said: "It's now evident who's behind this campaign—those seeking to discredit every success Sherine achieves. Still, we have full confidence in her fans and their support. She is more than capable of rising above such pressure."

He further noted that the artist’s legal team is preparing to take appropriate action against any defamatory or malicious content, while reiterating Sherine’s belief in the value of constructive criticism and freedom of expression—so long as it remains respectful and within ethical boundaries.

Backlash at Mawazine, and a Quick Turnaround

Sherine stirred debate during her recent appearance at Morocco’s Mawazine Festival, where she opened her performance with a playback medley of her popular hits. Some attendees were disappointed, having anticipated a live vocal performance—especially after her nine-year absence from Moroccan stages.

In response to chants from the crowd urging her to "sing live," Sherine quickly shifted gears and performed the remainder of her set with her live vocals. The move was met with renewed enthusiasm and praise from the audience.

Despite the criticism, Sherine later thanked her loyal fans for standing by her, expressing appreciation for their love and continued support, and reaffirming her commitment to delivering heartfelt performances.
