Mohamed Ramadan: "My absence from television drama is due to my focus on cinema"

Mohamed Ramadan: "Money will never be a barrier between me and my audience"

Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan reveals he recently turned down an offer to star in a television series for a record-breaking fee of $4 million (approximately 200 million Egyptian pounds), confirming it would have been the highest paycheck of his career — but he chose to decline.

In a video shared on his official social media accounts, Ramadan explained that his recent absence from television drama is due to his full focus on cinema, not because of financial demands as some rumors have suggested.

Absence from the Small ScreenRamadan clarified that his last television appearance was in the hit series Gaafar El-Omda, which aired two years ago, and that fans have continuously asked about his absence from TV.

“I wanted to clarify things as part of my right to respond, especially to the rumors claiming I’m away from drama because of my high fees… that’s simply not true,” he said.

The Al-Ostoura star emphasized that money would never be a barrier between him and his fans, and that financial matters would not keep him away from them. He explained that his decision to reject the recent TV offer was due to his current commitment to the film The Lion (El Asad), which has required extensive time and effort in preparation and filming.

He noted that viewers will understand the amount of work invested once they see the final product.

Ramadan also revealed he is preparing for another film following The Lion, describing it as “an extremely challenging project” that demands complete focus—another reason why he has opted out of any new television roles for now, despite the lucrative offers.
