Arrest of Hamo Bika Earlier After Evading Multiple Court Rulings Hamo Bika Returns to Prison Less Than Three Months After His Release

The Qasr El-Nil Misdemeanor Court in Cairo has upheld a previous in-absentia ruling sentencing festival singer Hamo Bika to one year in prison and a fine of 500 EGP, after rejecting the objection he filed in a case related to the possession of two bladed weapons. As a result, Bika is returning to prison less than three months after his recent release.

Egyptian police had previously arrested Bika in the Zamalek district after confirming his evasion of several court rulings. A report was filed, and he was taken to the Qasr El-Nil Police Station to begin serving his sentence.

The court had earlier issued a one-year prison sentence in absentia after Bika was found in possession of sharp tools. The prosecution had released him at the time pending investigation and referred him to trial on charges involving legal violations.

It is worth noting that Hamo Bika was recently released from Borg El-Arab Prison after serving a two-month sentence for organizing a musical concert in 2018 without obtaining official permits from the relevant authorities.
