The investigation authorities in Sheikh Zayed City, Cairo, have issued an official decision to summon singer Sherine Abdel Wahab once again to hear her statements regarding a complaint filed against her by the manager of her social media pages, who accuses her of insult and defamation.

Previously, the prosecution had issued an initial summons for her, but she failed to appear on the scheduled date, which prompted the authorities to issue a second summons to compel her to attend the investigation.

The root of the dispute goes back to Sherine Abdel Wahab filing an official complaint at the Basatin Police Station in Cairo against the manager of her social media accounts, accusing him of seizing the passwords to her official accounts and blackmailing her financially in exchange for restoring control over them. Her lawyer stated in the complaint that Sherine had completely lost control over her accounts, which led her to take legal action to reclaim her rights, especially after the manager refused to hand over the login credentials and demanded money.

Dispute over passwords

In response, Sherine’s page manager filed a complaint at the Sheikh Zayed Police Station accusing her of insult and defamation. He indicated that the conflict arose over the passwords, and that he was subjected to mistreatment and direct threats from her, which compelled him to seek help from the security authorities to claim his rights.

The security agencies have filed two official reports: the first at Basatin Police Station based on Sherine’s complaint, and the second at Sheikh Zayed Police Station based on the page manager’s complaint. The investigation authorities continue to carry out the necessary inquiries, forming a research team to examine the circumstances and summon all concerned parties, aiming to uncover the truth and determine legal responsibilities.
