Mohamed Ramadan responds to ruling placing his son in a care home: "Persecution"

Egyptian actor Mohamed Ramadan posted a photo of the Child Law on his Facebook account on Wednesday evening, breaking his silence about a recent court ruling that sent his son to a child care facility following an incident where he allegedly assaulted another boy at a club.
He wrote: “This law has been in effect since 2018, requiring the protection of a child and their family by concealing their identity, name, and photo from the media and press—even if the child is only a witness in a case.”
Ramadan added that since the child involved is his son, authorities permitted the publication of his photos. “They even issued an official press release to all public and private media outlets with my son’s photo, in violation of the law,” he said.
He emphasized that, as a father, he has the right to know who broke the law and released that statement, while affirming that he has complete trust in the integrity of the Egyptian judiciary.
Explaining the background of the incident, Ramadan said his son appeared in a video reviewed by the prosecution sitting with his younger sister at the club when he was bullied by a group of children.
He added that his son was bullied because of his skin color, and the children told him that his father's money was “dirty money,” calling the incident “a seed of hatred and class resentment sown among children.”
Ramadan described the situation as part of a “long series of oppression, cruelty, and bias” that he has faced for over 11 years. He added, “I never imagined they would drag an 11-year-old child into their battle against me.”
He called the verdict against his son “harsh,” and said it exposed him and his family to public defamation.
Charged with Assaulting Another ChildLast week, the Child Misdemeanor Court in Sixth of October City ordered Ramadan’s son, Ali, to be placed in a children’s care home with no specific duration, after he was accused of assaulting another child at a well-known club in Sheikh Zayed City.
The incident dates back to September when an 11-year-old child named Omar was playing at the club in Sixth of October City while Ali was also present. A dispute arose between the two boys, escalating into a physical altercation in which Ramadan’s son allegedly punched Omar in the face, leaving him with minor injuries.
