The Egyptian actress Nagwa Fouad revealed details about her health condition after a sudden fall outside her home caused a multiple fracture in her left shoulder and arm, as well as injuries to her foot.

Nagwa Fouad explained in a press statement that she was transferred to a private hospital in Cairo, where her arm was put in a full cast, and the doctor advised her complete rest until the fracture heals.

She confirmed that she has become bedridden due to also suffering from a slipped disc in her spinal vertebrae, and that the results of her CT scans have not been promising so far, as the fracture still needs time to heal.

She pointed out that she will undergo new examinations next Wednesday to monitor her health condition and to have the cast removed from her arm.

Nagwa Fouad denied recent rumors about her wearing the hijab, clarifying that her response to a hypothetical question during a TV interview was misunderstood, and she confirmed that she did not actually wear it.

“Needs to work to cover expenses”

She added that she needs to work in the artistic field to cover her medical expenses and live independently, especially after the spinal surgery she underwent that affected her mobility.

She explained that art provides her with psychological support that helps her cope with illness and loneliness, especially as she currently lives alone in her apartment in Cairo.

She stated that she is not considering retirement, affirming she would announce it officially if she ever decided to quit, but she currently rules out this possibility. She also talked about some female artists who retired and wore the hijab after marrying businessmen, some of whom later returned to art after removing the hijab, but she emphasized that she will never exploit the hijab for financial gain.
