Jehan, the half-sister of the late actress Soad Hosny, responded to the letter attributed to the “Cinderella,” which was recently published by the family of Abdel Halim Hafez. She cast doubt on what had been released by his family.

Soad Hosny’s sister responded to the statement by the family of the late singer Abdel Halim Hafez, affirming that the two were officially married in the presence of artist witnesses. This came as a rebuttal to the family's claim that there was no marriage between them, citing a handwritten letter by “Cinderella” as evidence.

"Not in Soad's handwriting"

Jehan stated that the letter was not in Soad’s handwriting and that the paper appeared to be modern and not from the era in which Abdel Halim and Soad lived, according to Egyptian media. She added that a member of Abdel Halim's family had previously filed a lawsuit to prove the absence of a marriage, but lost the case.

Jehan expressed her disapproval over reopening the matter after Abdel Halim’s heirs had lost the case, especially since both Soad and Abdel Halim had passed away. She said, “We want nothing from Abdel Halim’s heirs.”

She also mentioned that she personally did not wish to delve into more details but noted that prominent media figures such as Mofeed Fawzy, Mounir Motawea, and writer Mahmoud Matar had all confirmed the existence of a marriage between Abdel Halim and Soad.

She pointed out that Mounir Motawea conducted an interview with Soad Hosny in London, during which she confirmed the marriage to him. This was later mentioned in Mahmoud Matar’s book about the story of “Soad and Halim.” Jehan emphasized that publishing such letters would change nothing and insisted that the letter released by Abdel Halim’s family was recently printed and not original. She also questioned why the full letter wasn’t published, suggesting parts of it were deliberately removed.

The Nightingale’s Family Publishes a Letter

Abdel Halim’s family published a letter they claimed was handwritten by Soad Hosny and addressed to the “Nightingale,” in which she declared her withdrawal from his life.

They said that Soad sent the letter to Halim after he decided to end the romantic relationship, which was still in its early stages. They added that she never denied there was the beginning of a pure and respectful love story between them that did not come to fruition. Abdel Halim decided to end it because he felt uneasy about it, and the relationship later became one of friendship and professional respect between the two.

The letter, as published by Abdel Halim’s family, included the line: “Since you, I’ve become the saddest creature on the face of the earth,” which they said confirmed that “what happened between the two was merely a brief love story,” according to the Nightingale’s family.
