The textile and handicrafts factory in the Umm al-Rasas area, south of Amman, remains idle, despite years of construction at a cost of 94,000 dinars.
Official promises accompanying its launch would provide dozens of job opportunities for local residents, particularly in the fields of handicrafts, spinning, and weaving.
The factory, which was established with government funding and support from international organizations as part of plans to empower local communities and develop underprivileged areas, was supposed to provide more than 50 permanent job opportunities for women and youth in the area.
Citizens have demanded an investigation into the reasons for the project"s failure, which remains closed amid the absence of any productive activity.
The residents called on the government to reconsider the project and restart the factory as soon as possible, given its direct impact on reducing unemployment rates and improving the economic situation in the area.
