A circulating video of Egyptian content creator Karawan Mashakel has sparked widespread anger and outrage across Egypt after he appeared in a video published following his wedding night to the granddaughter of late folk singer Shaaban Abdel Rahim, triggering massive controversy on social media platforms.

In a decisive official move, the Supreme Council for Media Regulation in Egypt decided to block and shut down all social media accounts belonging to “Karawan Mashakel,” in addition to referring the incident to the Public Prosecution for investigation, according to local media reports.

Violating Content

The council explained that the decision came after monitoring the circulated content, which it considered a violation of societal values and standards. It confirmed that the video contained scenes and content described as offensive to public decency and as an infringement on family values and the sanctity of private life.

The official measures included contacting the National Telecom Regulatory Authority to take the necessary technical steps to block the accounts linked to the content creator, in addition to sending an official memorandum to the Public Prosecution to investigate the video clips that were broadcast through his personal accounts.

The Supreme Council for Media Regulation stated that these exceptional decisions were based on detailed monitoring reports and analyses prepared by the competent authorities within the council. The reports included close monitoring of public interaction and the social impact of the content, alongside an urgent recommendation from the Complaints Committee calling for immediate intervention and the implementation of legal penalties stipulated under media regulation laws.

The circulated video also sparked widespread public outrage in Egypt and across social media platforms, with many users demanding stricter control over online content and stronger action against clips that conflict with the values of Egyptian society.
