Mustafa Kamel: It was planned to finalize the song Mustafa Kamel: My relationship with Hani Shaker lasted for many years

The head of the Musicians’ Syndicate, artist Mustafa Kamel, revealed emotional and artistic details that brought him together with the late artist Hani Shaker, explaining that a musical collaboration had been in preparation between them but did not see the light before the passing of the “Prince of Arabic Song.”

These statements came during a memorial evening dedicated to honoring the late singer, organized by Academy of Arts under the presidency of Dr. Nabila Hassan, in cooperation with the Musicians’ Syndicate, held at the Tharwat Okasha Hall at the academy headquarters, amid notable artistic and official attendance.

“Waadi El Omr”

Mustafa Kamel explained that the song they were working on together, titled “Waadi El Omr,” was in its final preparation stages before the late artist’s health condition prevented him from completing its recording, noting that illness stopped the project, making loss arrive faster than the completion of the artistic dream.

He added that they were supposed to meet the composer to finalize the song, but the deterioration of health prevented that, stressing that the lyrics of the song remain in memory, including: “Our promise of life ahead of us… and our days ran between us.”

He also recalled his long relationship with Hani Shaker, which began in 1993, describing it as a deep friendship that extended over many years and formed a strong human and artistic bond between them.

A special signature

He also pointed out the late singer’s artistic beginnings and how he was strongly influenced by the style of “the Nightingale” Abdel Halim Hafez, even imitating his singing school at the start of his career before later establishing his own distinctive identity in the Arab music scene.

The Academy of Arts confirmed that organizing this evening comes as part of its plan to honor artistic icons who contributed to shaping Arab cultural consciousness and enriching the music scene.

Thus, the evening turned into a space of remembrance and loyalty, where artists gathered to honor a voice that left an unforgettable mark in the history of Arabic music and remained present in the hearts of its audience despite his absence.
