- Man jailed for stealing unreleased Beyoncé songs after Atlanta car break-in
A man has been sentenced to two years in prison after breaking into a car in Atlanta and stealing hard drives containing unreleased songs by global superstar Beyoncé.
A court in the US state of Georgia ruled that 41-year-old Kelvin Evans would also serve three years of probation after pleading guilty to charges including vehicle break-in and criminal trespass.
Authorities said Evans broke into a rental car used by a choreographer and a dancer working with Beyoncé on 8 July 2025, just as her “Cowboy Carter” tour was preparing to launch its Atlanta stop.
When the owners returned, they found the rear window smashed and their luggage missing. Investigators have not yet recovered the stolen hard drives or other items.
Prosecutors said the stolen material included laptops, headphones, luxury clothing and accessories, as well as hard drives believed to contain unreleased Beyoncé tracks. They also said sensitive personal information related to the singer was among the items taken.
Court evidence included surveillance footage showing a red vehicle allegedly driven by Evans pulling up beside the rental car in a parking garage, as well as additional footage of the same vehicle arriving at an apartment complex where he was seen handling the stolen luggage.
Tracking technology on the stolen laptops reportedly helped investigators link the items to the location shown in the footage.
As part of his sentence, Evans has been ordered to stay away from the victims and the parking garage where the theft occurred. He has been held in custody since his arrest in August last year.
The incident took place shortly before Beyoncé began a four-night run in Atlanta as part of her “Cowboy Carter” tour.
