A Florida mother was left terrified after initially believing her home was being broken into, only to discover a shocking scene involving two large alligators engaged in a violent struggle on her balcony.
According to Kayla Borris, she heard a loud crashing sound coming from the balcony area while her child was sleeping just a few meters away.
When she went outside to investigate, she encountered two large alligators locked in an intense fight, leaving visible damage and bloodstains across the walls and floor.
She added that the animals produced loud noises and slammed into the screened balcony, tearing through the mesh and leaving behind bent and twisted metal structures.
Borris suggested the incident may have been a territorial dispute, saying the scene was extremely violent and appeared far from mating behavior, with one alligator gripping the other forcefully near the entrance.
Wildlife experts note that such confrontations between alligators are not unusual, particularly during the breeding season, which runs from mid-April through September each year.
Florida wildlife authorities also state that larger alligators may prey on smaller ones, a known factor contributing to mortality among adult populations.
Following the incident, Borris urged neighbors to remain cautious, especially regarding children and pets, describing the event as deeply frightening and unexpected.
