A murder case has ignited social media platforms in Egypt amid widespread public outrage, sparking shock and anger, alongside growing calls for stricter monitoring of violent crimes.

The Juvenile Criminal Court in Al-Sharqia Governorate is set to hold on Tuesday the second session in the trial of two defendants accused in the killing of a girl inside a village in Zagazig district, with the intent of stealing her personal belongings, following extensive investigations and a strong prosecution plea in the previous session.

Security investigations revealed the details of the incident, which occurred on April 8, 2026, where the body of a girl was found inside a house adjacent to her family’s residence in unclear circumstances before the full details were later uncovered.

Investigations showed that the crime was carried out by two individuals who lured the victim into the house and assaulted her in order to steal from her, before attempting to conceal the crime and divert suspicion.

Security forces later arrested the suspects, who confessed upon confrontation. The necessary report was filed, and they were referred to the prosecution, which ordered their detention pending trial before the Juvenile Court.

The court surroundings witnessed the presence of relatives and family members of the victim, amid deep sadness. The victim was the only daughter of her family, born after years of marriage, while her mother suffers from medical conditions that prevent her from having children.
