  • Rural home plagued by recurring snake sightings
  • Online fundraising drive launched to support $75,000 relocation goal

In rural Montana, 27-year-old Callie experienced an unexpected ordeal after snakes repeatedly appeared inside her home, turning the old farmhouse into what she describes as a “den,” according to PEOPLE magazine.

Callie recalls that the first snake was spotted in 2020 when her mother-in-law was staying with the family, emerging from the house’s entryway.

Since then, the situation has continued, with family members reporting multiple snake sightings inside the home at different times.

She notes that the house’s location, close to a water source about 4.8 kilometres away, makes snake activity more likely, but says the problem escalated as larger numbers began appearing indoors.

On one occasion, the family reportedly saw around four snakes at the same time, while other instances involved several snakes emerging daily from gaps in the foundation.

Callie explains that the snakes are harmless garter snakes, but their presence has caused constant anxiety and made daily life in the home difficult.

The family has attempted multiple measures to contain the issue, including sealing openings, using insulation materials, repellents, and carrying out broader renovation work on the house.

However, she says the problem remains difficult to eliminate, as snakes are hard to control with standard traps or treatments.

In response, Callie has turned to social media to raise funds for a move, setting a goal of $75,000 to relocate to a different home.
