- Weather disruption forces diversion and landing at alternate airport
- Passengers experience anxiety during extended flight before safe arrival
A passenger flight in India faced severe disruption after encountering poor weather conditions while approaching its destination, forcing the aircraft to remain airborne for several extra hours before landing safely at an alternate airport.
Local media reported panic inside the cabin, with widely shared footage showing some passengers crying, praying, and calling for help, while others tried to calm those around them during the ordeal.
The aircraft had departed from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at 3:00 p.m. and was scheduled to land in Hubli at 4:30 p.m., but bad weather prevented the landing attempt, forcing the pilot to abort the approach.
The plane remained in the air for around four hours, flying over multiple regions while the crew managed the situation and kept passengers informed of updates as conditions evolved.
During the flight, some passengers requested diversion to other airports, while the pilot repeatedly instructed everyone to remain calm and follow safety procedures until conditions improved.
The airline later said there was no technical fault, stressing that the disruption was caused entirely by weather conditions and that all diversion decisions followed standard safety protocols.
Eventually, the flight was redirected to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, where it landed safely at around 7:30 p.m., bringing the tense situation to an end.
