  • Man refuses to pay $145,000 in legal fees after losing lawsuit against Kim Kardashian
  • Says he cannot afford the amount and seeks exemption from court costs

Man who lost case against Kim Kardashian asks court not to impose her legal fees, estimated at around $145,000, after alleging emotional harm caused by an Instagram post, according to TMZ

According to court documents cited by the outlet, Ivan Cantu is opposing Kim’s request for reimbursement of the legal expenses she incurred during her legal battle against him.

The case stems from a post Kardashian shared about another man with the same name, a convicted murderer on death row in the United States, as she was calling for a pause on his execution.

Cantu said the post mistakenly included his photo, causing him emotional and reputational harm.

Kim Kardashian’s lawyer, meanwhile, said the incident was an unintentional error and that the image was removed immediately after the mistake was discovered.

A federal court previously dismissed Cantu’s lawsuit against Kardashian, ruling it had no legal basis, which led her to seek coverage of her legal fees.

In a new filing, Cantu argued that Kim grew up in “great wealth and privilege,” estimating her net worth at around $1.9 billion, and noting that she earns substantial income from social media posts.

He added that most of her posts involve paid promotions and celebrity content, claiming the error was on her side, not his.

He concluded by saying he is a father of two and cannot afford the requested amount, warning that being forced to pay could cause him financial hardship, while the sum would have little impact on Kardashian given her wealth.
