A small dachshund named “Wilson” has unexpectedly become a key source of income for a British couple, after turning into a social media star generating over $6,000 a month through online platforms, helping finance a wedding estimated to cost more than $66,000.

Based in Stalybridge near Manchester, 31-year-old Shannon Edmondson transformed her pet into an internet personality through social media content, brand collaborations, and a steady stream of gifts and promotional deals from various companies.

According to the couple, Wilson has received gifts and products worth around $13,000 since launching his Instagram account in 2023, including home appliances, toys, luxury pet items, and even a custom car seat.

However, direct earnings only began flowing in early 2026, with monthly income exceeding $6,000 before taxes — nearly matching Shannon’s previous salary in the media industry.

Shannon says her dog has effectively become the “main provider” of the household, adding that their lives now revolve almost entirely around him.

The couple’s daily routine is increasingly shaped by Wilson’s filming schedule, with most content shot early in the morning when he is at his most energetic.

Despite his growing fame, they insist his comfort remains the top priority, treating him as a full family member and organizing travel and activities around his preferences, especially beach trips.

Wilson’s playful personality has helped him build a strong online following, opening doors to brand partnerships, filming invitations, and even hotel stays.

The couple says most of the additional income is being saved for their 2028 wedding in the Peak District, where Wilson is expected to serve as the ring bearer.

What began as a simple hobby has now become a full-time lifestyle, with Shannon saying: “We’re building our future through him.”
