  • Court sets trial date for Haifa Wehbe’s former manager
  • Allegations of embezzlement and money transfers to personal accounts

The Cairo Economic Court has scheduled the first session of the trial for Mohamed Waziry, former manager of singer Haifa Wehbe, on April 14, facing charges related to money laundering.

The case stems from a complaint filed by Haifa Wehbe, accusing Waziry of misappropriating funds from her bank accounts and transferring them to his own, exploiting the authority granted to him through an official power of attorney.

Investigations revealed a series of suspicious financial transactions by the accused, involving large sums in Egyptian pounds and dollars, exceeding 9 million pounds and 800,000 dollars, aimed at concealing the source of the money and giving the operations a legal appearance.

Waziry reportedly used complex methods to hide the funds, mixing bank transfers with cash, and investing part of the money in real estate, administrative units, and luxury cars, with some assets registered under relatives’ names, including his brother, to obscure the real ownership.

Authorities also found that he had established multiple commercial companies, using them as fronts to legitimize the funds—a tactic commonly seen in money laundering cases.

The case has drawn public attention since 2020 due to the large sums involved and the professional disputes that escalated into a heated legal battle.

Previously classified as a misdemeanor case, Waziry was sentenced to three years in prison on charges of embezzlement and fraud involving approximately 4 million dollars from Haifa Wehbe’s assets.

Haifa Wehbe confirmed that this case is part of a series of ongoing legal matters still pending judgment.

Waziry claimed he was married to Haifa Wehbe, a claim the Lebanese singer denied, stressing that the accusations against him remain under judicial review in Egypt.
