A fire erupted inside a residential building in Marib, resulting in fatalities, including a pregnant woman.

In a deeply tragic humanitarian incident, Wednesday evening turned into moments of fear and grief in Marib Governorate, northeast of Yemen, after a fire broke out in a residential building, leaving casualties and injuries among civilians, most of them women and children.

According to a statement issued by the Security Media Team of the Marib Police, civil defense teams quickly responded to the scene, where the fire had engulfed a multi-story residential building in the city center. They worked intensively to bring the flames under control.

The blaze claimed the lives of seven people, including six children and a pregnant woman, in a scene that reflects the severity of the tragedy. Nine others sustained injuries of varying degrees, some of them critical, and were transported to receive medical treatment.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the fire was caused by the ignition of a petroleum-based substance that had been stored inside the house, which contributed to the rapid spread of the flames throughout the building.

Following the incident, civil defense authorities emphasized the importance of adhering to public safety measures, warning against storing flammable materials inside homes due to the serious risks they pose to lives and property.

They also urged citizens to take necessary preventive precautions to avoid the recurrence of such painful incidents and to help ensure the safety of families within their homes.
