  • Mother of deceased teenage faces backlash after sharing funeral photos
  • Widespread criticism over mother’s outfit at funeral

Sophie-May Dickson, the mother of 16-year-old British girl Princess, faced severe backlash after posting videos and photos from her daughter’s funeral.

Princess had taken her own life in February following years of bullying on the controversial site Tattle Life.

Reports indicate that the girl had been targeted by online harassment since the age of 14 on forums described by some as a “digital hell,” where she repeatedly received derogatory comments about her appearance and body.

Some of the attacks shifted to her daughter after her mother, a social media influencer, became the subject of widespread criticism on the same platform.

Dickson, 32, shared photos of herself standing beside her daughter’s coffin dressed in white during the funeral on March 26, emphasizing that she did not post the images for views but to share “a very personal moment.”

In her caption, she wrote: “26.3.26… the day I laid my daughter to sleep for the last time… I miss you so much; you took a piece of me when you left.”

However, the post attracted a wave of criticism on Instagram and TikTok, prompting Dickson to clarify that her intention was solely to document her final moments with Princess, not to gain attention or fame.

Princess had stopped attending school before her death due to the psychological pressure from online bullying, with fake accounts reportedly created to monitor and mock her videos.

The mother reported the abuse to the police but was told it was a civil matter, while 20 British MPs have called on Ofcom to take urgent action to shut down the site following the girl’s death.

Tattle Life expressed condolences to the family, and Ofcom confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation to ensure child safety online and will take legal action where potential violations are identified.

The case has sparked wide debate over the impact of online bullying on teenagers and highlighted the need for authorities to regulate digital platforms that allow harassment to go unchecked.
