Independence Day and Eid al-Adha Holidays Grant Jordanians a Long BreakThe holiday may extend up to 9 consecutive days

As the end of next May approaches, Jordanians are anticipating an exceptional period of consecutive holidays, offering an ideal opportunity to relax and spend quality time with family, in a scenario that repeats with the overlap of two major occasions—one national and the other religious.

According to expected calculations, Tuesday, May 26, 2026, will mark the Day of Arafah, starting the Eid al-Adha holiday, which is likely to last until the evening of Saturday, May 30, 2026, granting five days of rest.

Directly before this holiday, Monday, May 25, will be an official day off for Independence Day, meaning Jordanians will enjoy a continuous series of holidays lasting six days, from Monday, May 25, to Saturday, May 30.

A long holiday

If an official decision is issued to include Sunday, May 24, as a holiday, this period could turn into a continuous break of up to nine days, giving many people the perfect opportunity to travel, relax, or spend more time with family and friends.

It is worth noting that Eid al-Adha in Jordan typically lasts five days, starting from the Day of Arafah (9 Dhu al-Hijjah) and ending on the fourth day of Eid (13 Dhu al-Hijjah). It includes ministries, government departments, and public institutions, with exceptions for sectors whose work nature requires continuity during holidays.

A formal announcement is expected from the Prime Ministry regarding this matter as Eid al-Adha approaches.
