Jordan will experience an unstable weather condition starting Wednesday Light snow showers mixed with rain over the Sharah Mountains

Jordan is expected to experience an unstable weather condition on Wednesday and Thursday, amid increasing questions about the possibility of snowfall over some high elevations, especially given the expected changes in the air mass accompanying the low-pressure system, according to the Department of Meteorology.

The department explained that the weather condition will gradually begin on Wednesday, as rain first falls over southern areas including Aqaba, then extends to cover wide parts of the Kingdom, including the capital Amman. Rainfall in the afternoon hours may at times be heavy and accompanied by thunder and hail, which could lead to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, especially in Aqaba and the Dead Sea region.

Low-pressure system With the arrival of Wednesday night, the Kingdom will be affected by a cold and moist air mass associated with a low-pressure system, leading to cold, cloudy, and rainy conditions across various regions, with continued heavy rainfall in western areas and the possibility of thunderstorms and hail at times.

Snow for a limited period Forecasts indicate that cold and rainy conditions will continue on Thursday, with a noticeable drop in temperatures. Rainfall may still be heavy at times, increasing the likelihood of flash floods and rising water levels in valleys and low-lying areas.

Strong winds and gusts are also expected, potentially exceeding 60 km/h in some areas. It is not ruled out that light snow showers mixed with rain may fall in the early morning hours over the peaks of the Sharah Mountains for a limited period.

On Friday, the weather is expected to gradually stabilize, with a slight rise in temperatures while remaining cold and partly cloudy to cloudy, with intermittent rain in western regions before gradually easing by evening.

The Department of Meteorology warned of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, especially in Aqaba and the Dead Sea, in addition to the risks of lightning, thunder, and occasional hail, reduced horizontal visibility due to fog, slippery roads during rainfall, and strong winds and gusts.

The department urged citizens to exercise caution, avoid valley channels, and follow weather updates continuously through official platforms and the Meteorology Department’s pages.
