Determining the original language of the conversation and the language to translate into The currently supported languages include a number of global languages, including Arabic

The popular messaging application WhatsApp continues to test a new feature aimed at facilitating communication between users in different languages, as it is working on adding an option that allows messages to be translated automatically and instantly within chats on Apple (iPhone) devices, in preparation for its official launch in the coming period.

The feature appeared in a beta version of the app through the TestFlight platform available on the App Store, where it included a new option within chats called “Message Translation,” allowing users to enable automatic translation of all incoming messages without any manual intervention.

Once the feature is enabled, the user selects the original language of the conversation and the target translation language, so that new messages appear translated instantly upon arrival, instead of the current method that requires a long press on the message and then selecting the translation option manually.

This feature is expected to support full conversation translation, whether in one-on-one or group chats, provided that participants use the same language, according to the Tech Gate website.

The new feature relies on built-in translation packages that operate directly on the device without sending data to external servers, which enhances privacy while maintaining end-to-end encryption, ensuring the security of conversations.

The currently supported languages include several global languages such as Arabic, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, Russian, Turkish, and others, totaling around 21 languages, with expectations of gradually expanding the list of supported languages in the future.

The platform has not yet announced an official release date for the feature, as it is still under testing within beta versions, meaning that its final rollout will depend on the results of upcoming tests and developments.
