• Truck found carrying 39 live pythons at Mexico border

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced the seizure of 39 live pythons being smuggled into Mexico after stopping a truck earlier this month.

The incident occurred on March 5 at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo, Texas, when officers selected a 2021 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and its driver for inspection.

The driver claimed he was not carrying any prohibited goods, but officers discovered 39 pythons hidden inside the vehicle.

Exporting live reptiles from the United States to Mexico requires adherence to multiple U.S. and international regulations.

Alberto Flores, director of the Laredo port of entry, said: “The interception of these live pythons highlights the vigilance and dedication of our officers in protecting both our borders and the environment. CBP remains committed to preventing illegal wildlife trafficking and ensuring compliance with all federal regulations.”
