Lebanese media figure Ricardo Karam announced the death of actress Dallal Karam on Thursday, after a painful five-year battle with lung cancer, leaving behind a distinguished artistic legacy and a touching love story with her late husband, Lebanese composer Ziad Rahbani, which resulted in their only son, Assi.

Karam shared a post on his Instagram account that included a photo of Dallal Karam in her youth, along with family moments featuring her son Assi. Through the post, he recounted her meeting with Ziad Rahbani and their marriage. He revealed that the late composer was married only once in his life in 1979, and that his wife was Dallal Karam, who was then a member of a Lebanese folk band. Their relationship began after they met during performances of the play “Mais El Rim.” Although their relationship did not last, it left a deep and lasting impact.

Karam noted that Dallal Karam collaborated with Rahbani in some of his works and gave birth to their only son, Assi. He also pointed out that what was later reported in the media about their private lives remains personal matters that are not worth discussing. He further recalled Rahbani’s heartfelt words about Dallal in his song “Marba El Dalal,” which reflected a part of their relationship.

A Distinct Human Value In a related context, Karam praised Assi Rahbani’s personality, who later emerged as a prominent figure in the artistic scene, describing him as someone who embodies a remarkable human value. He emphasized that the best legacy a mother can leave is a person who carries qualities of goodness and sincerity. He concluded by affirming that what Ziad Rahbani and Dallal Karam shared will remain alive in memory through timeless artistic works and songs passed down across generations.

For his part, Assi Rahbani mourned his mother with emotional words on Instagram, expressing his deep grief, reflecting on her life and struggle with illness, and confirming that she is now in God’s mercy. He stated that he will continue his path with his family in accordance with her wishes, encouraging the remembrance of joy rather than sorrow despite the profound pain he feels.
