Temperature Expected to Rise Around 9°C on Wednesday… Meteorology Warns of Heavy Rain and Flash Floods

Jordan is expected to witness a noticeable rise in temperatures on Wednesday, reaching about 8–9°C above the usual average for this time of the year, with generally warm weather and the appearance of some medium and high-altitude clouds. By midday, clouds are expected to gradually increase, turning the sky partly to mostly cloudy, with scattered showers starting in southern regions, including Aqaba, later extending to the capital Amman and several other areas of the kingdom.

The Meteorological Department expects the rain to be heavy at times in some areas, accompanied by thunder and hail, which may lead to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, including the Dead Sea. Southeastern winds may also become active at times, causing strong gusts that stir up dust and reduce horizontal visibility, especially in the desert regions.

The Meteorology Department has warned of the risk of flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas, reduced visibility due to dust before rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, and strong winds, which may lead to vehicle skidding on wet roads.

Continuing Temperature Drop and Cold Weather Until the End of the Week

• Thursday: The kingdom will be affected by a relatively cold and humid air mass associated with a low-pressure system, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures. The weather will be relatively cold, partly to mostly cloudy, with intermittent rain in northern and central regions, and limited areas in the eastern and southwestern parts. Rain may be accompanied by thunder and hail, with southwesterly winds active at times, potentially stirring dust in some desert areas.

• Friday: Further temperature decrease is expected, with partly to mostly cloudy weather, scattered rain possibly accompanied by thunder and hail in northern and central regions, and light showers in limited areas of the eastern and southwestern regions. Winds will be active from the west.

• Saturday: Temperatures continue to drop, with cold, partly to mostly cloudy weather. Intermittent rain is expected across most of the kingdom, sometimes heavy, especially in western regions, accompanied by thunder and hail. Winds will be active, ranging from southwesterly to westerly.
