A 54-year-old man from Gordon, Australia, now faces court, charged with manslaughter following the death of his elderly mother in July of last year.

Emergency services responded on 1 July 2025 to a home in Gordon, where they found the 74-year-old woman in dire health and living conditions.

Paramedics from the ACT Ambulance Service transported her to the hospital, but she sadly passed away the next day, Wednesday, 2 July 2025.

Police allege that the man, who had been caring for his mother around the clock, failed to provide adequate care over a long period and did not seek medical assistance despite her significantly deteriorating health.

He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court on charges of manslaughter.
