• Widespread grief in Lebanon after Raba Zayat’s sister's death

A wave of sorrow has swept through Lebanon’s artistic and media circles following the sudden death of Raba Zayat’s sister at her home in the southern city of Tyre. Thousands of condolences poured in across social media, offering support to the family and to the prominent media figure herself.

According to Lebanese news outlets and social media reports, Zayat’s sister passed away unexpectedly at home after her heart stopped while she was asleep. She was found deceased in her bed, leaving family and friends shocked.

Several media personalities shared their condolences online, most notably Lebanese journalist Nidal Al-Ahmadiyeh, who posted a heartfelt message on Facebook:

"If the Zionist doesn’t kill them, sorrow will."

She added: "In the south, even the hearts of the sleeping break from grief."

Al-Ahmadiyeh continued: "All condolences to my colleague Raba Zayat on the passing of her sister, whose heart stopped at her home in Tyre while she was asleep… Such a tragedy at such a young age. Condolences also to dear Raba and her husband Zahi Wahbi."

The post received a strong response from followers, who expressed solidarity and sympathy for the family. Thousands of messages of condolence flooded social media, sent by journalists, artists, and followers alike, addressing both Raba Zayat and her husband, the media figure and poet Zahi Wahbi, expressing shock at the sudden loss, especially as there were no prior warning signs.

Raba Zayat is one of Lebanon’s most prominent media figures, having hosted numerous talk shows on both local and Arab channels, featuring many public and artistic personalities. Her dynamic presence and extensive activity on social media have earned her a wide and loyal audience across Lebanon and the Arab world.
