• Man dies after falling from apartment window during fire in Scotland

A man has died after falling from an apartment window during a fire in a high-rise residential building in Scotland, local authorities confirmed.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it received a report of a blaze on the twelfth floor of a residential building on Shields Drive in Motherwell, North Lanarkshire, at around 10:08 p.m. on Thursday.

Police said witnesses saw the man fall from the apartment window during the fire, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Nine fire engines and specialist equipment were deployed to bring the blaze under control, which was later extinguished. Authorities confirmed no other injuries were reported.

Steven Nesbit, the area commander for the fire service, expressed his condolences to the man’s family, friends, and local residents, calling the incident “a difficult and tragic event.”

He added that the fire crews successfully extinguished the flames, while one vehicle remained on site to manage any remaining hot spots.

A joint investigation between the police and fire service is set to begin to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
