In a candid interview reflecting on an early stage of his life, the Egyptian actor Karim Fahmy revealed the difficult experiences he went through during his teenage years, when he suddenly found himself facing responsibilities beyond his age after his parents’ separation while he was still in high school. That moment marked an early turning point in his life, as he had to confront reality almost on his own, far from the usual financial support within the family.

Starting the Journey from His Grandmother’s Home After the separation, Karim moved to live with his grandmother for about a year, describing that period as an attempt to find some stability amid family tensions. However, her death later changed the equation once again, leaving him to face early independence, living with his brother, the actor Ahmed Fahmy, without relying on financial support from their parents.

Early Responsibility and Multiple Work Experiences Karim had no choice but to seek work at a young age. During those years, he undertook several different professional experiences, starting from football as a player at Zamalek Club, earning around 300 Egyptian pounds per month. His efforts extended beyond sports, working in sales at a printing company and assisting one of his teachers in private lessons to secure his personal expenses.

Early Media and Advertising Experiences His work attempts also extended to other fields; he participated in some commercial ads, recalling with a smile that he once discovered he was standing in the background despite being told he would be the ad’s main character. He also tried television presenting through a tech program covering computer and technology topics, although he admitted he didn’t have much experience in the field at that time.

Studying Alongside Work Amid all these pressures, Karim continued his studies at the Faculty of Dentistry, a stage he described as challenging due to the costly and demanding nature of the studies. He now sees that tough experience as shaping an important part of his personality, teaching him self-reliance early on and providing him with life experiences that later reflected in his artistic career.

Artistic Role Models and Early Screen Beginnings When discussing the artistic influences that shaped his taste, Karim mentioned his great admiration for the artist Sherihan since childhood, while considering the legend Adel Imam as the most significant model who inspired him in acting.
