On Thursday, Samar Al-Maidani, widow of Syrian writer Hani Al-Saadi and mother of actresses Rawaa and Ruba Al-Saadi, passed away, in news that brought widespread sorrow to the Syrian artistic and cultural communities.

The late’s body was laid to rest in Bab al-Saghir Cemetery in the capital, Damascus, following a solemn funeral held in the Rukn al-Din district, attended by family members, friends, and close associates.

The Syrian Artists Syndicate mourned the deceased through its official page on Facebook, highlighting her stature and their appreciation for her family’s contributions to Syrian drama.

The final farewell The funeral procession departed from Salah al-Din Mosque, while condolences are being received until the coming Saturday at the hall of the Syrian Lawyers Syndicate in Damascus. The event brought shock and sorrow among Syrian drama fans, who recognize the prominent artistic position of the Al-Saadi family.

Samar Al-Maidani’s passing comes while her daughter, actress Rawaa Al-Saadi, was making a notable appearance as a guest of honor in the Syrian comedy series "Ya Ana Ya Hi", starring Amal Arfa and Amal Al-Dabbas, while Ruba Al-Saadi is absent from this year’s Ramadan drama, according to media reports.

Her husband, writer Hani Al-Saadi, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 81 after a long illness, leaving their family as an enduring symbol in Syrian drama across generations.
