On Friday evening, the spokesperson of the Tehran Fire Department, Jalal Maleki, announced the outbreak of a large fire at a shoe-manufacturing factory located on Khavaran Road, south of the capital, Tehran.
Maleki told Iranian media that the report of the fire was received at 16:54 local time, noting that the site contains five warehouses designated for storing raw materials used in shoe production.
The flames consumed three warehouses.
He explained that the fire completely destroyed three out of the five warehouses, causing thick columns of smoke to rise and cover the sky over the area. The smoke was visible across a wide part of the southern capital, including the areas surrounding the Mausoleum of Ruhollah Khomeini.
He confirmed that firefighting teams rushed to the site immediately after receiving the alert and are still continuing extinguishing operations and containing remaining hotspots to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby warehouses and facilities.
He added that, as of the time of this report, no injuries or human casualties had been recorded, while efforts continue to fully extinguish the fire and assess the extent of the material damage caused by the incident.
