The Death of Fatima Khalil Sparks Outrage on Social Media Investigations Indicate the Victim Pushed the Accused

The murder of Fatima Khalil inside her fiancé’s house in the Kab area in southern Port Said caused widespread outrage on social media, as her photos spread rapidly, prompting the public to question the circumstances of the incident.

Investigations began after a report was received indicating the presence of a body inside the apartment, amidst criminal suspicion that raised concerns from the very first moments. Authorities immediately questioned everyone present at the scene and interviewed all those inside the house at the time of the incident, amid conflicting accounts, especially after initial suspicion fell on a girl named Shahd, niece of the victim’s fiancé Mahmoud.

The Real Accused: “Doaa”

Further investigations revealed that the real accused was Doaa, wife of Fatima’s fiancé’s brother. During questioning, she stated that a dispute arose between her and the victim over the marital apartment, after Mahmoud’s older brother—Doaa’s husband—suggested that he and his wife move to a smaller apartment, leaving the larger apartment for the new bride.

Investigations indicated that this proposal angered Doaa, and the conflict with Fatima escalated on the day of the incident. During the altercation, the victim pushed Doaa, causing her to hit her head and lose consciousness. Doaa then seized the opportunity, grabbed Fatima’s veil, and strangled her to death in a moment of impulse linked to the dispute over the housing unit.

Authorities listened in detail to the accused’s statements and had her reenact the crime inside the apartment, illustrating how she carried out the act that ended Fatima’s life. Investigations are still ongoing to complete the legal procedures and uncover all the details of the case.
