  • Parents convicted of causing fatal injuries to their baby
  • The three-month-old girl died en route to the hospital after sustaining severe physical trauma.

A court in Stafford, UK, sentenced the parents of a three-month-old baby after they were found guilty of causing serious harm to their child.

Emergency services were called to the apartment following reports that the infant’s heart had stopped. She passed away on the way to the hospital.

It was later confirmed that 26-year-old Jack Davies and 23-year-old Terrie Marie Wood, both from Stafford, were guilty of causing or allowing the child to suffer serious physical injuries.

A post-mortem revealed a head injury believed to have occurred several days before her death, along with multiple rib fractures, according to police.

Davies was sentenced to two years in prison, while Wood received a sentence of one year and eight months.

Detective Sergeant Claire Mace from the Child Protection Team described the case as “extremely distressing for all agencies involved,” stressing that violence against children is never acceptable and expressing sympathy for those affected.

She added: “We will continue working with our partners to protect children, ensure their safety, and prevent tragic cases like this in the future.”
