In a new development regarding the circulating video, Egyptian actor Ahmed Maher broke his silence and issued a direct apology to Ramez Galal and his brother, actor Yasser Galal, following the controversy sparked by a clip that was considered offensive to their late father, the theatre director Galal Tawfik.

In press statements, Ahmed Maher stressed that what he said was not intended, explaining that it was nothing more than an unintentional slip of the tongue. He also emphasized the depth of his relationship with Ramez and Yasser, and his keenness to avoid any tension between them.

An old video

The controversial clip dates back to 2017, when Ahmed Maher appeared as a guest on one of the prank shows presented by Ramez Galal. At the time, the episode triggered considerable anger and criticism because of some of the statements made during it.

On the legal front, lawyer Ashraf Abdel Aziz, the legal representative of Ramez and Yasser Galal, announced that his office is following the ongoing investigations at the Egyptian Actors Syndicate regarding the incident, in preparation for taking the necessary legal measures over the content of the video, in addition to pursuing those who participated in filming or publishing it on social media platforms.

For its part, the syndicate issued a statement expressing its full solidarity with the family of the late director Galal Tawfik and with Ramez and Yasser Galal, while reaffirming its complete rejection of the offensive content in the circulated clip and announcing that the incident has been referred to an urgent investigation in preparation for taking the required actions.
