None of his friends expected that a few moments of excitement and filming would turn into a real tragedy on the road, after a Turkish teenager lost his life while performing a dangerous stunt on his bicycle in front of his friends.

According to the footage recorded by one of his friends, the teenager was seen riding in an acrobatic manner, lying horizontally over the handlebars in an attempt to reduce air resistance, before suddenly veering off his path and crashing into a passing car in a split second.

Shock spread at the scene immediately after the crash, while the screams of his friends could be heard as they watched him fall to the ground, in a disturbing moment that later spread widely on social media.

Local media reported that the accident took place on a busy road in Gaziantep, in southern Turkey.

Sources said that the teenager, Baris Tanriverdi, 18 years old, suffered critical injuries and was rushed to hospital, but his condition rapidly deteriorated and he died despite doctors’ attempts to save his life.

Following the accident, a number of local residents voiced concern about the repeated practice of acrobatic cycling on the same crowded road, calling on the authorities to intervene to prevent such dangerous behavior.

Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident and confirmed that preliminary findings indicate the car driver was driving in his proper lane and within the legal speed limit at the moment of the collision.
