• Mohammed Abdel Monsef opens up about his relationship with Iman Al-Zeidi

The former Zamalek goalkeeper and husband of actress Leqa Al-Khumaisi shared details of his second marriage, his current relationship with Iman Al-Zeidi, and the controversy that followed on social media.

During a TV interview, Abdel Monsef revealed that contact with Iman had completely stopped for a period, clarifying that the break was not due to arguments or conflicts: “There was no communication at all during that time, and the relationship was cut off from the moment of that issue… on the contrary, I still respected her silence and calmness.”

He emphasized that he does not blame Iman for the public backlash, noting that she was naturally affected, and he expressed feeling responsible for the situation: “I take responsibility for my part and feel guilty.”

The topic sparked widespread social media reactions after accusations targeted Iman, claiming she “stole a husband and ruined homes,” which Abdel Monsef strongly denied: “She was wronged by people completely.” He added: “The attacks were not fair to her. She’s a very good and respectful woman… she’s not the monster that was being described.”

Abdel Monsef explained that comparing their story to dramatic characters on platforms caused confusion, and he admitted he initially did not know the character was played by the late actor Nour Al-Sharif: “I kept asking who it was until I discovered… it was Nour Al-Sharif playing that role.”

He said Iman stopped working in acting because she lacked interest in continuing small projects: “Iman decided not to work; she had nothing else but home matters.” He added that her decision came after she completed two small works she wasn’t satisfied with, saying to her: “I encouraged you to continue, and she replied, no, I won’t continue.”

Iman Al-Zeidi officially announced her separation from Mohammed Abdel Monsef in early January after more than seven years of marriage, making the news widely discussed on social media. She wrote on her official account: “I announce my separation from my husband Mohammed Abdel Monsef, after a legal marriage that lasted more than 7 years.”
