Fight between two inmates in prison ends with the death of one of them The perpetrating inmate began consuming parts of the victim’s body

Media reports revealed a tragic incident inside a Chilean prison, where an inmate admitted to causing the death of his cellmate in a case that shocked public opinion.

Manuel Ignacio Fuentes, 21, was serving a sentence for aggravated theft and shared a cell with Felipe Sepulveda, 26, when a fight broke out between them.

According to Diario El Día, the incident was first noticed at 9 a.m. on February 8 after a radio alert reported a disturbance inside the prison.

“Self-defense” Official sources stated that Fuentes claimed the fight was in self-defense, explaining that he had been attacked by his cellmate during the night. He tried to protect himself and, after the incident escalated, realized his cellmate had died, and then began consuming parts of the body.

Fuentes’ father noted that his son needed psychological care and specialist attention, mentioning that he suffers from documented neurological and psychological issues.

Fuentes was previously arrested in 2022 for armed robbery, escaped in 2023, and was later re-arrested the same year. He is currently considered the main suspect in the death of his cellmate, found in circumstances reflecting the severity of the incident.
